Pooja Yadav is a remarkable member of the Indian Police Service (IPS), which is the story of her resilience, cross-international career changes, and ultimate success in public service. By 2025, she had secured her place as a dedicated and very visible personality in the Gujarat police administration.
Biography and UPSC Journey
Born in 1988 in Sonipat, Haryana, Pooja Yadav will turn 37 in 2025. She has a very strong technical background, nd which includes a B.Tech in Biotechnology and an M.Tech in Food Technology and Management.
A large part of her life was dedicated to her choice to leave a career abroad. After completion of her education, she had high-paying positions in countries like Canada and Germany. Motivated by a desire to play a role in her own country’s growth, she came back to India to prepare for the Civil Services Exam (CSE). This saw her through financial hard times, which also included a stint as a receptionist and tutoring to make ends meet. Her perseverance paid off when, in 201,8, she got an All India Rank 174 in the second attempt at the CSE, which in turn got her into the Gujarat Cadre of the IPS.

As a member of the 2018 batch, Pooja Yadav has taken up key roles. In Rajkot City, where she served as DCP Traffic, she won great recognition for her tough stand against violators and also for her innovative use of social media for public engagement, which earned her wide-scale
Current Posting: As of 2025 also she is in key positions in Gujarat, which she uses to bring forth issues of road safety and disciplined policing.
Husband: In her personal life, there was also a turn when she married Vikalp Bhardwa, who is a 2016 batch IAS officer. The couple met during their training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie in 2021. Vikalp joined the Gujarat cadre after marriage, which also marks the strong professional and personal bond the couple has.
Pooja Yadav is a live example of how, with any financial setback or past career background, success in the Indian civil services is achievable with determination and a clear goal.
