By 2026, Dr. Tanu Jain had achieved the transition from a well-respected civil servant to become one of India’s top education entrepreneurs. Which once saw her as a key player in the Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ) service, now we see her at the helm of Tathastu ICS which is redefining UPSC coaching with a focus on total growth instead of traditional rote learning. Her story is a study in how to stay true to your calling which she did even after achieving great professional success.
Biography and Education: The Doctor with a Mission.
Born in the Sadar Bazaar district of Delhi Dr. Tanu Jain is 43 in 2026. She had an outstanding academic record right from the start; she finished her school at Cambridge School, Delhi which then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Subharti Medical College in Meerut.
Although a trained doctor by profession she had a strong call to serve at a larger scale. This took her to the UPSC which she cleared at the first attempt in just two months of preparation. In 2014 she secured an All India Rank of 648 and joined the 2015 batch of the civil
Career Shift: Why did she resign?
She left her distinguished post.
The Reason: She saw that her true calling was in teaching and mentorship. Having gone through the tough UPSC process herself she set out to close the gap between aspirants and the “right” way to prepare.
2026 Status: Today at great demand as a mentor and mock interviewer which also includes running of her own institute Tathastu ICS in Old Rajinder Nagar and Greater Noida which also works with Drishti IAS.
Family and Personal Life
Dr. Tanu is from a business oriented family in Delhi. Her husband Vaatsalya Pandit is also a very well respected IAS officer, and together they are referred to as a “Power Couple” in the admin and motivation circles. They have a son, also which the family shares reports of their balanced life on social media which has made Tanu to amass over 1 million followers.
