Born on the 24th of February 1985, Namit Mehta will turn 40 in 2025. He is from Jodhpur in Rajasthan, which is a place that has seen many of Namit’s family members do well in academic and public service fields; his father, Kamal Mehta, is a Chartered Accountant and educationist.
His road to IAS was tenacious, during which he also saw great academic success. He finished off Chartered Accountancy (CA) and Company Secretaryship (CS) programs, which in turn saw his success in the Civil Services Exam (CSE) at his second try in 2011, which secured him an All India Rank of 13. Also from the 2012 batch of the Rajasthan Cadre.

Namit Mehta has had a large role in district administration, which is a large part of his recognition.
COVID-19 Management: He received wide praise for his outstanding management of theCOVID-199 pandemic in districts like Bikaner and Bhilwara. It is reported that he caught the Prime Minister’s attention with his early and effective implementation of health care measures as which were critical to success. Also, his team did very well in the initial phase of the crisis.

District Collector Roles: He has held the post of District Collector and District Magistrate (DM) in key districts, which include Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Pali, and Bhilwara.
Current Posting (2025): In a big administrative restructuring, which saw Namit Mehta take the post of District Collector in Udaipur in February 2025. That is a very key position in Rajasthan which includes the administration of a large city and also running an important tourism base.
As of 2025, it is Namit Mehta who is at the head of the Udaipur district administration, which he has been a part of for many years and which he has built through his academic background and constant interaction with the public.
