Early Life & Background
Minnu P M was born in 1990 in Pathanamthitta, Kerala.
She lost her father, who was in class XII.
That loss hit her hard emotionally and financially at a young age. To support her family, she took up a job as a clerk in the “die-in-harness” scheme of Kerala Police in 2012.
Through hard times, Minnu did not give up on her dreams. She enrolled at the University of Kerala and received a B.Sc. in Biochemistry.
Balanced between career, academic, and family from a very young age, she showed out of which came her resilience and determination, which in turn fueled her ambition to join the civil services.
Personal Issues and Motivation

Minnu’s story is not just about academic success; it’s one of endurance in the midst of struggle. When her father died, she automatically became the breadwinner of the family. However, she did not allow the situation to get her down. She took up a clerical assignment not as a dead end but as a starting point to pursue higher education.
Her late father’s legacy inspired her in part. Also, it was true that the job they did out of compassion didn’t really go the distance for her; what she wanted was to earn her own.
That grit, which was augmented by academic dedication and experience in the real world, laid the base for her ultimate success in the civil services.
UPSC Journey & Success
Minnu gradually shifted from her role as a clerk to that of a Civil Services Exam candidate, which, according to public records, she did from 2015.
Her determination paid off: In the 2020 UPSC CSE, she secured a rank of 150 in the All India ranking.
That success came out of many attempts, which is a testament to her persistence. Many give up after initial setbacks, but Minnu did not.
In the UPSC exam, she reported having scored 970 total, which is 791 in Mains and 179 in the Interview.
This achievement made way for her induction into the 2021 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), which is the Maharashtra cadre.
Professional Career: From collecting materials as an Assistant to becoming Zilla Parishad CEO.

After entry into the IAS, Minnu was first posted as Assistant Collector in Vidarbha.
Later on, she was an Assistant Collector in Bhatkuli Tiwasa Sub-Division, Amravati.
She was appointed as the CEO of Zilla Parishad, Jalna.
This is a mark of her administrative skill and the state’s faith in her leadership.
Thus, from a position as a clerk to that of CEO of a district’s Zilla Parishad, which is a chief executive body for local governance in India, Minnu has seen an amazing ascent in his career.
Personal Life & Balancing Multiple Roles
Minnu has another chapter in her life, which she lived out publicly. At 21, she got married and at 23 became a mother.
Her husband Joshy DJ is a part of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Balancing between motherhood, a demanding clerical post, and civil service preparation is an issue which many a person would give up on. But Minnu used these as fuel for her fire. She admitted to past struggles with confidence and self-doubt, which at times defeated her, but over time, she changed her thought process and put in place what worked for her.
