UPSC Exam Date 2025: Full Schedule and Information
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) is perhaps the most competitive and prestigious examination in India. Notification and Application Period

Preliminary Examination Date
The Preliminary Examination is to be conducted on May 25, 2025. This stage is a screening test and consists of two objective-type papers:
– General Studies Paper I
– General Studies Paper II (CSAT)
Only candidates who clear this level are eligible to sit for the Main Examination. The prelim results will be announced a few weeks from the date of the exam.
Main Examination Schedule
The Main Examination shall start from 22nd August 2025. This is the descriptive-type stage and has nine papers of which seven are to be considered for merit. The other two are qualifying papers (one each in English and in a local language).
The papers are as follows:
– Essay
– General Studies I, II, III, and IV
– Two optional subject papers
Performance in the Mains is also very important in deciding who goes to the final stage of the selection process.
Personality Test (Interview)
Those candidates who clear the Mains will be invited for the Personality Test or Interview. Although the dates are not yet released, interviews usually start a few months after the results of the Mains are announced.

Admit Card Details
Admit cards for each stage—Prelims, Mains, and Interview—are released separately. The candidates have to download their individual admit cards from the UPSC website a couple of weeks before each examination.
