We are in for a treat with large-scale productions, film franchises that are back by way of sequels, and very compelling stories. Also in the pipeline is a great mix of comedy, romance, and drama, which will star both well-known and new talent.
Big-Ticket Releases 🎬
The year is filled with much-awaited sequels and star-studded collaborations. Of all that is to be discussed this year, the most talked about is Chal Mera Putt 4, which is the fourth in the series of very successful films. Dir by Janjot Sing, this film brings back to the screen the fan favorite cast, which includes Amrinder Gill and Simi Chahal, which is what we can look forward to in another great cross-border comedy and heart-warming family drama. Also, the trailer has done a great job in creating a buzz, which makes its August 1, 20,25, release a very looked-forward-to event.
Another to hit the screens is Saunkan Saunkana,y 2, which features what I would term a dream team of Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira. Trom-com sequel is going to pick up where the first left off and take us on a ride of the characters’ chaotic and humorous journey. We were lucky enough to see the trailer, which dropped in mid-20255, and reports of the leads’ sizzling on-screen chemistry are true, which is an assured sign.
The Unconquered will be a very grand and intense cinema experience. Also in Sarbala J, which has a large cast that includes Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira.
Diverse Genres and Fresh Stories
In 2025, beyond the star power of the blockbuster, we will see several in-depth films. Phaphey Kuttniyan is a comedy that stars fan favorite duo Neeru Bajwa and Tania. This movie, which is also a personal favorite, is expected to dole out equal parts laughter and life lessons. Also, this film does well in the female-led comedy category.
This year also sees independent filmmakers put out several films that bring new stories to the screen. We have films like Chor Dil and Tenu Ghodi Kinney Chadaya, which promise to present unique story lines and solid performances, which in turn report a healthy mix of mainstream and offbeat cinema. Also, we see the release of a romantic film like Mehar, which also marks British-Indian businessman Raj Kundra’s acting debut, which in turn is a mark of the industry’s wide appeal and its ability to attract new talent.
Growth of Punjabi Cinema.
The Punjabi film industry has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years as it reaches out to a global audience. In 2025, we see this expansion play out in the films that we are seeing, which also feature themes that do well with the Punjabi diaspora. We also see the use of great production values, relatable stories, and a great mix of music and comedy, which has made the Punjabi films a hit with worldwide audiences.
In 2025, Punjabi cinema is set for a huge year. We will see a great lineup of films which will include many of the biggest names in the business and which also, I thin,k will cement Punjabi films’ place among the main players in Indian entertainment..
