Jammu and Kashmir, which is also referred to as “Paradise on Earth”, is a beautiful destination that always has something to offer. But what is the best time to visit in 2026? It greatly depends on what you are in the mood for, be it in the midst of blooming gardens, pleasant weather, seeing autumn colours, or going in for snowfall adventures. As per travel reports, the best months are between March and August, which see the most visitation. Also, winter and autumn have their own draw for different kinds of travellers.
Spring Season (March to May): Flourishing Beauty.
Spring is at its best in Jammu and Kashmir. Out of winter’s grasp, the valley awakens to a sea of colour from the many flowers, from the rich green of the vegetation and the bloom of the gardens. In Srinagar, the tulip gardens, which come into full bloom at this time, see a great influx of tourists, which in turn marks the start of the tourist season.
During this time, the weather is great with temperatures which range from about 10°C to 20°C, which in turn is great for sightseeing and photography. Visitors may go out into the Mughal gardens, which are picture perfect, see the tranquil landscapes, and bear witness to the best of what nature has to offer. Spring also does well for honeymooners and people who have a love for nature, which is better in mild weather and beautiful scenery.
Summer Season (June to August): High Season.

Summer is the peak season to visit Jammu and Kashmir, which is also the favourite time for heat-seeking travellers. We see temperatures between 14°C and 30°C, which is very much in the traveller’s favour for outdoor activities.
This season is great for sightseeing, trekking, and seeing places like Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonmarg. We also recommend that you try a shikara ride on Dal Lake and stay in a houseboat, which really does enhance the travel experience. Also, with reports of clear weather and open access to the areas, summer is the best time for first-time visitors and families.
Monsoon Season (July to September): Off-Season Appeal.

Monsoon in Jammu and Kashmir is different from the rest of India in that it is milder. In some areas which do see rain, other areas see very little and thus are still very much a tourist’s paradise and not very crowded. Also, this is a low season, which in turn means that hotel rates are lower and the crowds are smaller.
However, we see that at times travellers may experience landslides and slippery roads in hilly regions. While there are these issues, the monsoon provides a calm atmosphere and beautiful greenery, which in turn is very good for budget travellers looking for peace.
Autumn Season (September to November):
Golden Landscapes, which could also be put as Golden Fields or Picture-perfect landscapes.
In the autumn, which is the best time to visit Jammu and Kashmir, the Chinar trees put on a magnificent show of gold, red, orange and yellow, which transforms the valleys. Also, the weather is cool and very pleasant, which in turn makes it perfect for sightseeing and photography.
This year is ideal for travellers who want to get away from the crowds, which is great for those who prefer a more peaceful experience. Also, we see this as a wonderful time to check out what the local culture has to offer, to see what is in harvest at the moment, and to enjoy the scenery, which is at its best.
Winter Season (December to February): Winter Wonderland.

Winter turns Jammu and Kashmir into a winter wonderland. We see reports of temperatures dropping well below freezing with many areas bearing heavy snowfall. This is also the best time for snow fans and winter sports lovers to ski and snowboard.
Popular at present are destinations like Gulmarg, which have become great spots for winter tourism. The snow-covered landscapes there are simply magical, which we may say for honeymooners and also for photographers. But do keep in mind that you will have to put up with very low temperatures, which may drop very suddenly, and also reports of travel disruptions due to heavy snow.
Conclusion: In 2026, which is the best time for.
In that which is to come, it is put forth that there is no single best time to visit Jammu and Kashmir in 2026, as each season brings its own experience. In spring and summer (March to August), we see the best for tourist attractions and pleasant weather, in autumn (September to November), it is a great time to see the scenic beauty also at less crowded times, and during winter (December to February), this is the season for snow, which in turn is best for adventure activities.
