Biography and Academic Pedigree
Aashima Goyal is a part of the 2020 IAS batch, which has been put into the Uttarakhand Cadre through inter cadre transfer. IIT Background: Her academic background is excellent, which includes a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). In post-education, she had a brief stint in a corporate job in Bengaluru.
UPSC Triumph:
Driven by a desire to serve the public, she left her work in the corporate sector to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE) without the aid of formal coaching. She did very well in the 2nd attempt (in 2019 CSE), which saw her secure an impressive All India Rank of 65. Cadre Change: Initially joined the Kerala cadre, which she left in 2022 for the Uttarakhand cadre, for which she did so for the sake of her marriage to Rahul Mishra, an officer in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Key Postings and Public Recognition At a young age in her career in the force, Aashima Goyal has achieved public note for what is beyond that which is expected of a young officer. She proved to be out-of-the-box thinking and quick in her responses, which she did on display when she appeared on the popular TV quiz show Kaun Banega
Crorepati over a video call, which in turn impressed host Amitabh Bachchan with her fast and precise answer to a high-value question. As of 2025, she is focused on the development of the mountain state. Current Posting: As of 2020, she is a member of the Uttarakhand cadre, which puts her in a position to hold the post of a Senior Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) or a Deputy Collector, or Joint Magistrate in a main district, or that of an Additional Secretary in a development or planning department.
