Early Life
Katrina Kaif was born on 16 July 1983 in Hong Kong to Mohammed Kaif, a British businessman of Kashmiri origin, and Suzanne Turquotte, an English lawyer and social worker. After her parents separated, Katrina was raised by her mother along with her seven siblings. The family moved frequently across countries like Japan, China, Switzerland, France, and England, due to her mother’s work in teaching and social welfare.
She was homeschooled throughout her childhood and never attended a traditional school. At the age of 14, she won a beauty contest in Hawaii, which led to her first modeling assignment. She then began modeling in London, regularly walking at fashion weeks before she moved to India to explore a career in films.
In 2003, she accompanied her sister Christine to Mumbai for an audition and landed her debut role in Boom. Despite the film’s failure, she decided to stay in India and build her career.

Career Journey
Katrina faced several challenges early on, mainly due to her limited command over Hindi, which led to rejections and even replacement in films. However, she found her footing in South Indian cinema with Malliswari (2004), which was commercially successful.
Her big Bollywood break came with Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005) and later Namastey London (2007). Though her acting drew mixed reactions at first, she improved over time and gained appreciation in films like New York, Raajneeti, and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan — earning multiple Filmfare nominations.
She starred in many blockbusters including Dhoom 3, Ek Tha Tiger, Bang Bang!, Tiger Zinda Hai, Sooryavanshi, and Bharat. In Zero (2018), she earned a *Zee Cine Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her recent work includes Tiger 3, Merry Christmas, and Phone Bhoot.
